Part of an international metering and smart grid series of events, Smart Energy India took place on 31 January - 2 February 2011 in New Delhi and was a hub of debate and discussion from the very first day. The pre-conference workshop: Renewable Energy Integration was well attended.

The official opening of the conference was chaired by Gopal Saxena, CEO, BSES Rajdhani. The welcome address was delivered by Shri Anil Razdan, Former Secretary, Ministry of Power, Government of India and N Murugesan, Director General, Central Power Research Institute. Pramod Deo, Chairman of the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission's welcome focused on the Department of Energy's vision for the next 4 years. The conference was off to a great start!
