You are too young to remember when the phone company had a monopoly, but Ma Bell could provide you a desk or wall phone, with rotary or button dial in about 6 colors. You couldn't get caller ID or voicemail. They existed but there was no motivation to offer them because the phone company had no competition. End the education monopoly and in 25 years our current rotary dial system will have more versatile and varied "smart phone" options

@dansdeeds That is a terrible idealistic idea that would never happen. We have plenty of money, why not borrow from our 700 billion dollar military budget? I was given only two books for school this year, both busted up, and I have 6 AP classes that should all need books. On top of that I took an IDLA class this summer and I was appalled by the lack of motivation to teach. This is just a business, its not education. I was handed a book and assignments and told to go.

This kid exemplifies the problem. He has an entitlement mentality. This entitlement mentality is the cancer that is killing our country. We don't have any more money. The answer is to amend the state constitution to eliminate the responsibility of the citizens to educate our youth and end all sources of funding like property taxes. With those tax savings in the pockets of Idahoans and the dying education monopoly ended, we will see the free market create a superior education apparatus!
