@7863348 Nah you're both wrong. I have an 82' passport and it has 12v electrics and capacitor discharge ignition. Mine is the US model but I think the Canadian ones were the same. They had point/6v until 1982 when they switched over to CDI 12v

yes my 82 is the Canadian version and Im positive it has a 12 volt system, I have the manual that came with the bike too. Ive never heard of an 6 volt 82.

Cool. You got two of them. Nice bikes for sure. The 81 and 82 were 6 volts with points. My 84 is 12 volt and CDI ign. Fun to ride. Ride safe!

That's strange. A few years ago I bought a 1972 C70 Ki, a 1981 and 82 Passport and all were 6 volt systems and with points. Here in Canada all the C70 Passports with the 12 volt systems started in 1983-84. 1984 was the last year the C70 passport was sold in Canada. All our 12 volt systems also had a CDI ign.

Your right and I'm wrong. Now that I think of it the two Passports I had was one 1980 and 81 and they were 6 volt. 12 volt systems with CDI started in 1982 and went to 1984. I like the 12 volt CDI units. Reliable bikes.
