Jet car crash

@tomoaac Jet engines do have throttles; they increase how fast the engine itself is spinning. The faster the engine spins, the faster the fan and compressor blades spin, and the faster those spin, the more air is sucked innto the engine inlet. Also, fuel can be injected into an afterburner without igniting (this is what makes the smoke). The pops are only when fuel is injected and the afterburner is lit.

@fliddeh It's not a helicopter engine, it's a General Electric J-85, a small jet engine equipped with afterburner that produces ~ 5500 lbs. of thrust at full throttle in burner. The US Air Force use(d) them on F-5 Tigers and T-38 Trainers.

@JackassFanPlayer he hit the wall after the body flew off, hence why the car is facing the wrong way and is missing some parts off the front suspension at the end of the video.

holy molly holly molly!

No rocket cars ever exploded in the US.
The problem was, they kept going out of control.
Jets are more manageable and the fuel is much safer.
