During the last day of Spring SOS 2007, in North Myrtle Beach, Legendary Carolina Beach Music Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the year, the great Craig Woolard performs his Number One Beach Music hit during the semi-annual Camp Kemo fund-raising event to help send children with Cancer to Summer Camp. As Craig performs the Al Wilson classic, patrons and fans toss and stuff his shirt with money that will all go to help the kids! Making this video even more special, club owner and Beach Music icon, the legendary Fat Harold dances with the ladies as Craig croons! This is an amazing, touching moment captured for friends of Harold Bessett and all to see for eternity!...simply a very special moment...do you feel the chills on your arms and the back of neck as you watch it, time and time?

  • @benellidown The original Ember was the Drummer Bobby Tomlinson. Who formed The Embers in the mud 50's he was joined by Jakie gore about that same time. Craig was an Ember from about 78 to 200o with a short break for personal reasons. He does have the voice.

  • Yep, Craig is one of the original Embers.... great voice!

  • I grew up in NC but hated "beach music". Now I'm 45 and wow, this stuff takes me back. Wasn't he the original Ember? Man can sing no doubt! Wish all days were like SOS days.

  • This man is not only a great musician and vocal artist, but obviously a fantastic entertainer.Wonder why a major recording co.hasn't signed him to a contract? I think we are seeing a star in the making!

  • SOS stands for the "Society of Stranders" which really started out as a reunion for a bunch of ex-lifeguards at Ocean Drive Beach, SC. The event mushroomed into a 10-day dance party held in the 3rd week of April and the 3rd week of September each year. It is all about the dance called the "SHAG" which was born in the Carolinas in the late 40's. Therefore, you see much older people at SOS which is attended by some 15000 people. He is referring to Camp Kemo (a camp for children with cancer).

  • Craig is an awesome entertainer and singer.Carolina Beach Music at its BEST!

  • nice tune

  • Did a search, what a star...what wonderful people...

  • Please tell me what this gathering is, I hear Craig say "SOS" and Camp something, (then I not sure what word he uses). But after my surgery in England, I just want to know what the gathering is about. His warmth and caring about people is wonderful...

  • Last week I found Carolina Shag and thought how cool, noticed it was like Northern Soul from the UK, I took up ballroom dance/latin/jive at 43 5 years ago, but danced Northern Soul in 1976 aged 16, this gentlemans voice is pure Northern and could be the last song played at Wigan Casino top club in 1976 UK. Pure class, if you dance, dance to this...Super tune, great vocals....
