During the May Day demonstration of the left-wing block, Germany's capitol of Berlin witnesses violent clashes between protesters and police. According to protest organizers, about 10 thousand people took to the street.

The May Day demonstrations have turned violent in Berlin.

According to the organizers about 10 thousand demonstrators took to the streets for the "Revolutionary May Day" demonstrations in the German capital, flanked by heavy police presence.

The situation was more than once tense as violence flared up from both sides.

In past years these events have regularly escalated into clashes.

Protesters threw bottles and fireworks at police in Berlin's district Kreuzberg, where the May Day activities traditionally take place.

Along the demonstration route protesters destroyed the window of a bank and a bus station.

The demonstration brought traffic in the area to a halt for some time.

To prevent the demonstration getting out of control, the organizers stopped the march before reaching the final destination.
