Since November, the community of San Juan Copala has been under siege by the paramilitary group UBISORT (openly allied with the ruling party PRI) preventing them from access to external food, causing electricity outages and pushing teachers to flee the town. On April 27th, a peaceful convoy tried to get to the community to deliver basic necessities, and were viciously attacked by a group of said paramilitaries with a raft of high power weapons. On June 8th 2010 another aid caravan tried to break the siege but shootings inside the town prevented them from reaching the goal.

This is an excerpt of the report made by three journalists from the Mexican magazine Contralinea. The full report in Spanish is in http://contralinea.info/video/2010/copala/
