@SkunkDroppings It's the passion. You don't see many bands play their hearts out anymore. Sure, there are acts like Iron Maiden that still play like they're 20, and Pete Townshend can windmill like a motherfucker in his 60s, but there just aren't enough musicians that get up on stage and perform as if their life depended on it. People need to get out there that really care about the music they're playing and play it. More than play it. They need to blow the roof off with it.

A VERY young Sir Elton. No one could rock like she did! What a gem this perfomance is! Love ya', Madam John! <3

love dee on the piano!!!

Elton John with this band was one of the best live acts of the early to mid 70s..
3 plus hours.. he and this band gave it everything they had.
You got your money's worth to say the least.

Holy shit! Amazing but I think it's too fast, sorry Elton! It loses it's panache.

these Elton shows ROCKED!! In his day he put on the best concerts, unbelievable piano player!! Unfortunately today's shows lack much of that intensity... I saw him this past March (2011) at Madison Square Garden and it was a far cry from his concerts i saw at MSG in 1976. He looks and sounds old now... not the same anymore!!

@SkunkDroppings Wish I could have see these early shows but I was too young and saw him only on TV. Growing up around classical piano players, he made the piano much more fun.
Bernie Taupin wrote all the lyrics to these songs, Elton the music. Elton said they never worked together in the same room...he'd give Bernie the music and then Bernie would come up w/ lyrics, say, for this song. Think about that. One of the best writing duos ever, I think.

these shows were great...i was there when they came to the states...elton was at his peak and he'd rip the roof off the arena...the thing was that over three hours he'd rock he'd sing ballads...pop, rock, country, r&b...he had it all..and he wrote this stuff and had the voice...i marvelled at him and the band...you'd leave the arena shaking your head...thinking how talented he was...nowadays they have katy perry and lil wayne...imposters
