Probably the most intelligent vampires movie so far...?
Coming to theatres on October 23, 2009.
Starring: John C. Reilly, Ken Watanabe, Josh Hutcherson, Chris Massoglia, Ray Stevenson, Patrick Fugit

Cirque Du Freak: The Vampires Assistant, based on the popular series of books by Darren Shan, is a fantasy-adventure about a teenager who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares. 16-year-old Darren (Chris Massoglia) was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. He hung out with his best friend Steve (Josh Hutcherson), got decent grades and usually stayed out of trouble. But when he and his buddy stumble upon a traveling freak show, things begin to change inside Darren. Thats the exact moment when a vampire named Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) turns him into something, well, bloodthirsty. Newly undead, he joins the Cirque Du Freak, a touring sideshow filled with monstrous creatures from a snakeboy and a wolfman to a bearded lady (Salma Hayek) and a gigantic barker (Ken Watanabe). As Darren flexes his newfound powers in this dark world, he becomes a treasured pawn between the vampires and their deadlier counterparts. And while trying to survive, one boy will struggle to keep their brewing war from devouring whats left of his humanity.

  • If the producers were smart they couldve made it resemble the books better and the movie couldve made more money but they didnt so it didnt. And they messed up the storyline so much that a second movie would be almost impossible to resemble the books in any sense and therefore, lose the cirque du freak fanbase and only gain people who have never even heard of the books.

  • I hated this movie. It screwed up so many things that the books got perfect. They shouldn't even have tried.

  • wtf is goin on with the Film Industry?! First Dragon Ball Z, Now Cirque Du Freak...Dammit X(

  • @shellyvball77 um did u read the book because someone else was the Vampaneeze lord and that person killed Mr Crepsley. plus there is a new series with Crepsley as the main character

  • UGH, WHY DOES MR CREPSLEY HAVE TO BE THE LORD OF THE VAMPANEEZE, I JUST HAD A FREAKOUT BECAUSE OF IT, so freaking dissapointed, he was my fav character :(

  • this is too much like a comedy -.-

smh! i really wanted to watch it until i saw the freaking trailer. shoulda just stayed with the storyline!

  • PEETA!<3

  • Couldnt have stuck to the books, eh? Should have just combined 2 books to make 1 movie, and have 6 movies, and they would have been amazing. This looks like a cheesy teen comedy, not a dark twisted horror story. But the only thing I agree with is making Darren and Steve older instead of 11 or 12.

  • the books are way better

  • i kinda liked this movie, but i havent read the books so i cant compare ahah, but ahhhhhhh josh hutcherson
