@TheBronzeSkull Fuck Hogan,i'll be damned if i saw him perform 10 moves in one match that doesn't include striking.REAL Pro Wrestling is not all about the amateur wrestling, thats only where the stand up and the positioning tehniques come in play while the headlocks, bodyslams and armbars all come from catch wrestling.Pro Wrestling is like an MMA of its own league.

@TheBronzeSkull hogan is a liar billy robinson was a real wrestler and so were others hulk is an egomaniac and an asshole!

@styx4ever1963 I was thinking that too. In those days they wouldn't talk about pro wrestling being staged. So they talk about Gagne's impressive run as champ not mentioning that he was the promoter/ owner and was champ by his own decree.

@bigchieflottabull Verne Gagne should have given more wrestlers a title run! But he wanted belt all to himself except for when Bockwinkel held it for 5 years between 1975 thru 1980~ I think Wahoo should have had title run and Superstar Billy Graham!

They're in kayfabe mode.
Greg's analysis of why Billy never won the championship couldn't be more astute or brilliant.
I like more of a pretense of wrestling, but I agree with what Hogan said that the only pro wrestlers that are "real" wrestlers are guys that came out of the amateur ranks like Angle. Headlocks, bodyslams, armbars, that's not wrestling, he said, show me where real (amateur) wrestlers do those moves. Even those who came out of the amateurs aren't doing wrestling in the pros. In that sense, I can't agree with Gagne's pretense of how wrestling isn't wrestling now but was in his time.

@TheBronzeSkull The pretense wasn't that this was wrestling (which it really isn't) the pretense was that this was an athletic competition (which it really wasn't). They could of called it anything but what kept people watching it was that they believed it was an actual athletic competition between individuals.
