Level 72 of Emerald Mine is a nice "sampler" level, divided into four quadrants each with features that make it a strong TAS candidate.

QUADRANT 1: It's quite simple--run across to the opposite corner and back, in a room full of enemies--but it seems a lot more active to the watcher than it does to the constructor.
QUADRANT 2: The standard method to unlock the yellow key involves pushing each rock down the center column and having them stairstep down the nuts, uncovering one layer at a time for your taking pleasure. That's too slow for my liking, so I've come up with a different path that leaves half the rocks unused, almost half the nuts un-hit, and about 30 more seconds left on the countdown timer. Sure the gem quota is 48, and I only scored gems from 26 of the 48 nuts, but that's something we can deal with later.
QUADRANT 3: I need to blow up four starships in rather precise spots in order to uncover the red key. Fortunately, I arrived in this quadrant with such timing that the ships were on an ideal part of their cycle to allow me to catch up to the first, get the fourth with a minimal waiting period, and be able to slow the fifth one down enough that it doesn't get in my way. Rather nice, really.
QUADRANT 4: Typically you spend a lot longer in the first 3 quadrants, so the amoeba has had time to grow a lot more and hence you'd need more of the dynamite stockpile to clear it out. Not so here, so I just take what I need, blast a way to the last key in just two salvos, and move on.
QUADRANT 1 REVISITED: So I still need 22 more gems to open the exit door. Fortunately, I still have some spare dynamite! And there are bugs here! Good times.

  • Is this really played and recorded in real time? Amazing skills if so.

  • It says TAS in the title, and RnD has support for a lot of features in making tape files. I don't know how you differentiate "play" from "record", but no.

  • Wow, impressive skills!

  • This Game is an arcade puzzle action where your main goal is to collect the necessary amount of diamonds before completing the Level before time runs out! This Level is a classic one from the original Emerald Mines 1987 for the AMIGA 500! It is a Single Player Level! Level 72! The guys that plays it really dominates this one here! I'm a big fan of Boulder Dash Games but never that dominating like this video here...! XD

  • wat is this game
