Black 2005 Yamaha YZF-R6. In this clip I'm being taped and have been following a guy for a while and am trying to pass. His bike is faster (1200cc vs 600cc, although mine is lighter), but I am taking the corners a lot quicker. Due to the strict passing rules, I can only pass on the oustide. At the end I get ballsy and try to get set up to pass him out of the corner. I come up on him too fast (really, he slows down way too much) and I almost high-side.

  • I am a beginner too... Was this just a lack of commitment on your part? It looked like you coulda made that turn but bailed out and upset your suspension last minute... I don't know...

  • @shoeaddik Yeah I got a little scared, but we were also told we couldn't pass on the inside, so I would have been breaking the rules.

  • he could have EASILY made that turn... push the thing into the turn !!! chances are, you'll make the corner even if your brain says you wont.... and why were YOU following that guy off the track ??? I will tell you... target fixation.. look where you wanna go, not where you are currently. 10 yrs of roadracing experience teaches you this stuff. Countless times I have gone in too deep or the thing slid.. always fight to make the turn. A lowside isn't a bad fail.

  • That was me in front. The bike with the camera was following and videotaping me because I had won a contest for best beginner rider. Thanks for the tips.

  • what kinda track lets you ride with out full leathers.

    stupid stupid idea

i cant even tell you how many times my one piece has saved my skinnn

  • I had on full leathers. Read the previous comments.

  • @korefighter Sure its a basic skill called trail braking. Obviously its a learn basic skill that needs to be used wisely though.

  • @ProfessorIgor - a low side fall makes you look more balsy ;)

  • not the best idea breaking into the turn... then again better that then risking hitting his tail! LEast u recovered !

  • nice recoverie

  • good 2 piece leathers do just as fine if its a strong zipper :)

  • Giving a quick jerk of throttle as you shift down.

  • a couple comments.

1st...I hate cresson's pavement. Its too damned polished. Thats why a lot of people crash out there.

2nd, thats why you dont use your rear brake much when turning.

    3rd...nice save!

  • 10yrs experience would tell you that riding it out if possible is ALWAYS better than a lowside. why risk it, what was he going to do win the track day?
