This is from the Mission Aborted CD, the first half of the CD is labeled "1975-1976 Acetate Demos" and the second half of the CD is mislabeled as "Unreleased 3rd Album," but it is actually Barry Goudreau's solo album, which was essentially Boston without Tom Scholz. Anyway, I was surprised this song wasn't up on YouTube, so I uploaded it. It's "Hitch a Ride" with some different lyrics and a different title. There is also a second, shorter, version on the CD. Both are mislabeled as "San Francisco Bay." I believe these are the same versions as on the 'We Found it in the Trash Can, Honest!' bootleg, and the 'Mother's Milk' demos. This particular one is the 'Mother's Milk' demo (circa 1973), I believe (the other one has a 12-string). Someone might need to clarify that for me. Anyway, enjoy.

  • This sounds different from my version. Interesting.

  • @kingcrimson1972 I'll post the other version that's on the "Mission Aborted" CD, eventually. I like Boston a lot but I'm not a super fan, or collector, so I hope what I posted in the description is correct... that's all from online research.

  • @StephenHardyMusic I agree.

  • I believe this was from the very first demo tape that got rejected by all the record companies, around 1969-1971(?). Tom Scholz then re-recorded every song, doing most of the instrumentation himself. That much more polished demo (with much better vocals from Delp which altogether sounds much more like the Boston we know today), won the contract with Epic

So, this here is the demo that made Scholz work much harder at making Boston sound irresistible to record companies. The "Demo rough-draft".

  • i don't like this demo

  • i love hearing different versions in the working...the guitar so has that late 60's sound...i love the early lyrics...thanks man....i appreciate this more than you know...

  • I didn't really want to see this on You Tube. There needs to be some things left in the hands of the true collectors. This is slightly different than my version from "I found it in the trash can, honest."

  • sounds a lot like the Beatles
