You certainly do not, I repeat, do not find this caliber of script and developed characters in American television.

Kieran Prendiville, the writer, said he has always regretted what he had Peter say at the wake. He said he had wanted something simple, but it came off as simplistic and sentimental. He said he should have just sat down and written from Peter's heart.

I honestly don't think it was bad at all. But I did feel a little underwhelmed at his speech after everyone else's. Still, what a beautiful scene and a great send off for Assumpta. Even though she never should have died in the first place. ;)

You cant beat the first 45 seconds of this clip as far as being emotional. A great show, and still sadly missed

I can't watch this clip to the end. It's so very depressing. Kills me. The thing is, they develop the characters and the story in a way that you feel like this - not being able to watch a clip - which means, they do a fantastic job. Really talented people making these types of shows, so much unlike the American tv shows which are sooo immature compared to the British ones.

It makes sense to me that Peter would not have prepared something to quote or sing like the others, or realized he would be expected to speak at all. He was still in shock. I thought what he said rang true. Yes, it was underwhelming, but the others had all planned theirs ahead of time. Lovely stuff.

This show was great show the first 3 series were great also the ones that followed were fine just didnt have that connection.

Of all the great moment of ever series of this show - this scene is always my favorite.
