1. This video shows you how to start a new Unicode font that contains some predefined outlines.

2. Then it shows you how to import a single image for Capital "A" into the Glyph Edit Window.

3. Next, it shows you a much quicker method for importing images by copy and paste from IrfanView. You will need a prescanned image of the entire alphabet for your font.

4. Finally, it shows you how to adjust the position and side bearings of several glyphs, before saving the font.

Continue copying and pasting each letter into the appropriate grid square until the font is complete.

  • okay, if you drag that box to select a character, and the character's a little off-centered, is there any way to fix that before exporting a font? Thanks in advance :3

  • @Xs4Eyez

All characters have to be positioned after importing. The left and right side bearings may be positive or negative — lowercase j often has a negative left side-bearing, while lowercase f often has a negative right side-bearing. The import process just positions the glyphs starting from 0,0. FontCreator has no idea how you want to design your font. When copying, just make sure you don't crop anything. Extra, unwanted bits can be deleted later.

  • If you have a genuine copy you can ask on the High-Logic support forum.

  • what software are you using for creating the font?????...

FontCreator from High-Logic. I think the tutorial was done in version 5.6 — the latest version is now 6.1, which now supports vector import from AI or PDF files. Just drag and drop a load of PDF files (one for each character) into the glyph overview window, and they are imported in sequence (very quickly).
