as mine was disabled when the put a new drum in the machine

I've never heard of doing a maintenance wash?

Is it something that Dyson recommend?

I have this machine and it makes a terrible noise, I think it's the gears.

I'm not planing to get it repaired though as I don't like this machine at all.

It doesn't seem to get our clothes very clean, and worst of all many of our clothes have been stretched out of shape on the seems.

I live in France and this machine cost about 2,000 Euros - very disappointing.
