In partnership with Glasgow Life and the West of Scotland Regional Equality Council, Young Scot worked with a group of Roma young people in Glasgow.
The group was made up of 15 young males aged from 12-15, who focused their investigation on what it is like to be a Roma young person living in Govanhill.
The group made this short film to showcase their findings about how they maintain their Roma identity and culture in Scotland. Participants talked about existing racial tensions in the area, especially fighting with the Scottish community.
Interesting. This highlights the feelings of the scottish people living in Govanhill all their lives. What I would say regarding the Scottish not understanding Roma is you have choosen to come here then you should be learning to understand our culture. Yes you may be living in sub standard housing along with scots also living in sub standard conditions. However you must along with scottish learn to keep our area clean. drugs and drink are unfortunatey seem to be a problem in both STOP NOW
