The discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls has revolutionized our picture of the early history of Judaism and of the Jewish background of early Christianity. With the completion of the publication of the entire scrolls collection, it is now possible to draw significant conclusions from this treasure trove of ancient documents. This illustrated lecture by Professor Lawrence Schiffman will discuss the discovery of the scrolls, the archaeology of Qumran where the scrolls were unearthed, the nature of the library, and its significance for the study of Judaism, Christianity and their common destiny. Series: Herman P. and Sophia Taubman Endowed Symposia in Jewish Studies [1/2003] [Humanities] [Show ID: 7032]

  • after a decade of trying to make sense of the dds - this man seems to be very accurate and to the point - it makes sense now! The Christian scholars have made a complete haggis of the subject.

Ive never listened to a Rabbi or a Jewish Scholar - it is refreshing and puts my faith back in humanity - we are all trying to solve the puzzles of the past - muslim, jew, christian, secular :)

  • @Ashmine12 xtianity in its true form? I must confess to you that your statement made me laugh because you obviously have been kept in the dark about the paganism surrounding it. does xmas ring a bell to you?

  • Typical for a Jew to deny the Dead Sea Scrools are about the Truth of the Historical Jesus Christ. John Elegro became an agnostic!!! The only sincere one!

  • Shame on this Zionist Jew. BRING A SINCERE GOD FEARING RABBI. They did not even add Islam to the Abrahamic faiths lol.

  • Liars! The highpriest son's of the Devil and pagan roman empire want to cover up the truth of Islam,Jesus pbuh being a Prophet of Allah and the truth of the Comforter Muhammad pbub. TRUTH ID COMING SOON with the Massiah and his return! ALLAHUAKBAR!

  • i know the guy that was involved with the dead sea scrolls.

  • Christianity and Judaism don't have the same destiny. Christianity, in its true form, will prevail. Judaism will not. Anyone who doesn't accept Jesus will perish in hell. Eventually, on a whole, Jews will accept Jesus as the Messiah. The whole earth will be forced to bow to him.

  • Stick with KJV if you know what's good for you. All you have to do is faithfully ask God for wisdom and understanding. Accept Jesus Christ as your savior and surrender your self and life to God. Allow the Holy Spirit to help you and move you. Have faith and obey. Don't rely on yourself, other humans, commentaries, etc. Read the bible, pray and live for God. Then, you will truly become or remain a strong Christian.

  • @Debba99

God is the most powerful being. He has all the control and everything depends on his authority, power and judgement. God's word is infallible. It can never be hidden, changed or destroyed. That's why KJV is still around. It is the only copy of God's word that we have. The new versions are all man-inspired and are from Satan. This is what Paul and the others called ' the other gospel'. Nothing needs to be added to or take from KJV for any reason.
