*TRIVIA! Did you know that Buxtehude was visited by Handel in 1703 and by Bach in 1705? Bach walked more than 200 miles to meet him and studied with him for several months in 1705 and 1706. Both Handel and Bach wanted to follow Buxtehude at St. Mary's, but neither one wanted to marry his daughter as that was a condition for the position.

(Sorry, it was just a bit of Danish patriotism from me, even though I'm not danish :P )

Medievil German used all sorts of spellings, but indeed, I don't think sh exists at all.

@alexpjp @alexpjp I'm Austrian and I'm aware, that there was no standard german until the late 18th. or even 19th. century. But replacing "sch" with "sh" seems very odd to me, the latter simply doesn't exist in german. Furthermore I checked some medieval texts in their original, barely understandable spelling, and they use "sch" too.

Having said that let us enjoy the music now :-)
