@811Zelda Forgive my triple post, and the fact that this is a copy of what I've responded to RoundedBlade with, but I can't think of a better way to explain someone like Dr. Kurotsuchi within a 500 character limit per post.
-
@RoundedBlade Besides all that, he knows what she can handle, and we never see how he is on the other side of those lab doors...well, we see it very briefly after he gets out of his bath in that one episode. I believe he was looking at her with an almost gentle expression (perhaps apologetic or showing he feels bad about doing what he does to her even if it's for her own good in his mind?)
-
@RoundedBlade I think I can understand why Mayuri did what he did to his own daughter: The best of the Shinigami thus far have been able to put their more personal feelings aside for the greater good of all, and perform better this way due to their clearer mind. Also, the enemies he has to face are less inclined to harm and use someone against him that they think he doesn't care about, which actually shows that he does care by taking her as far out of harm's way as possible.

I LOVE NEMU!

this song really suits her

Mayuri is probably really evil and mad, but it's all about science. He uses Nemu like a scientific tool, so he can't love her.
I agree that Mayuri is an evil bastard, but there isn't a need to generalize that to all fathers, especially real ones. Mayuri is a character meant to represent a certain character type in a story. He's meant to be hated. But the majority of fathers certainly aren't like this at all.
