Benita Valente, soprano, and Richard Goode, piano: Therese
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Du milchjunger Knabe,
Wie schaust du mich an?
Was haben deine Augen
Für eine Frage getan!
Alle Ratsherrn in der Stadt
Und alle Weisen der Welt
Bleiben stumm auf die Frage,
Die deine Augen gestellt!
Eine Meermuschel liegt
Auf dem Schrank meiner Bas':
Da halte dein Ohr d'ran,
Dann hörst du etwas!
  • What are the lyrics in English.?
  • @davidhertzberg No it's just that in the first second, just before the music starts, you hear some sort of fragment of the music in the background (not very clearly though, and only for a split second).
    I just thought that was funny
  • @Besnorki I did not time the image correctly, it should have appeared only after the music. Is that what you are referring to? david (from my new channel)
  • How wonderful! The belcanto style suits this beautiful song very well, better than the overly sharp approach by, let's say, Kirchschlager. Good pianist too.
    BTW: I'm still puzzled by how the first seconds before the beginning of the song show a part of it in the background...
