Part 3 of a short tutorial series on the quick basics of creating an island scene. The end result isn't quite as detailed as the renders I've shown, but it should get you off to a good start.

Software is Blender 3d, and photographs come from cgtextures.com

  • Was just browsing through YouTube, as you do, looking for Blender tutorials and low and behold I found yours. :D

I couldn't believe how many you have done, wow!

I just wanted to say thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos and I will start watch them soon;).

  • Great set of tuts dave. Really enjoyed it. The "quilt" reminded me of the knick knack short that Pixar did years ago

  • thx for the tutorial. How can i fix the few white points on the ocean that appear when i render??

  • Jolly good. First rate.

  • Thank you so much.

  • You're my hero.

  • Great tutorial! Now I have at least some clues as to which settings to start with, tweaking is all it needs from there! There are a lot of us out here that really appreciate the time you invest in these tutorials!

  • Good tutorial. I think the most helpful part of it for me was the mention of the frame dropping option in playback in part one. I didn't know that option was there. Timing in playback will be a lot more reliable now...

  • Nice tutorial. Really enjoyed it. Thanks a lot. Any chance you'll be doing a tutorial on the dynamic paint anytime soon?

  • Nice tutorial. I used Bryce and then I'm trying blender... damn it's different ^^
