  • yiddish is like poetry, build on old europe, mainly in the first person. Where there are three tense in english. I don't know how many tense in yiddish, but its from the heart. Which means more, because of the way its expressed. I find it funny too, as my first language was yiddish, until 6 or 7 then only english, and the struction of thinking and expression changed. For me yiddish is poetry

  • funny, I speak Dutch and reasonably German (along with English) and never realised I could understand Yiddish.

Yiddish is probably closest to Austrian, Swiss and Bavarian dialectst. All are form of High German but Yiddish is based on Medieval High German.
