WD40 doesn't lubricate or protect from rust, it just displaces water.

It also builds up a nasty film over time.

@mikeknight4u they just used a rod, patches, brush, solvent, and oil. Some people never cleaned their guns. And just buy some hoppes no 9 solvent and oil and a boresnake.
