Proud to say I grew up down the street and around the corner ( Fulton St) from where this man spent the early part of his life. There is one good thing I can say about Toledo, we had a hand in making this man.

Unmitigated brilliance on every instrument.

Listening to John Coltrane is like having a direct conduit to Music and the Infinite. He never fails to astonish me. A Love Supreme is, in my opinion, his most fully-realized work; extremely powerful and humble/devoted, all at the same time. Extraordinary.

When Miles complained to Coltrane that his solos went one too long, Coltrane replied he just didn't know when it was best to stop? Miles said ''when you take the fucking horn out of your mouth'' I always chuckle wondering if this story was true.
