-I cant believe you broke up with Jesse! Doug said he was crying- April says to me on the phone.

I roll my eyes, not wanting to talk about it, -Jesse didnt make me happy anymore. I want to be happy.- I try to explain.

-So did you move onto Nick?- she asks.

-No- I say quickly, lying.

-Youre lying to me arent you?- She says reading me like a book.

-What do you want me to say?- I ask, looking down. Im ashamed, I am. April is my best friend and I feel like I can tell more stuff to Demi. Maybe I just dont trust April, and that makes me feel even worse.

-I want you to tell me things that we used to tell each others. I thought we were best friends. But now I dont know- she yells before hanging up the phone.

Pushing thoughts of April aside, I look forward to the wedding with Nick today. Im wearing a light blue strapless sundress, hoping I look ok. When I pull up to Kevins auto shop, my heart skips a beat, actually several to be honest. Nick is dressed in black pants and a black silk shirt with his curly hair, slightly gelled back. He looks so different from his normal ripped jean, white t-shirt self. I smile at him as I step out of the car.

-Brianna, you look beautiful.- he says sincerely, then smiles and pulls me against him, -Come here, I dont want to go to the wedding anymore. Lets just you and me stay here by ourselves.-

I lean close to him, my lips so close to his and stay there until his eyes close. Finally I whisper against his mouth, -Nope, I dont think so- Then back away.

He opens his eyes and smiles, -Youre a tease.- I smile, I love this side of Nick, it makes me forget about his gang side and all those demons.

-I came here to see a wedding and I expect to see one- I tell him.

His lips turn into a pouting face, -And I thought you just wanted to be with me.-

I shake my head, -Youve got a big ego, Jonas.-

He gets his signature Jonas cocky smile and says, -Thats not all Ive got-

I shake my head in playful disgust and he backs me against my car and puts his lips on mine only for a brief moment before he pulls away and says, -Give me your keys. This is an official date and I am driving.-

-If you think for one second that I am getting on your motorcycle with this dress on, you are crazy.- I smile.

He shrugs, -I dont see how it would be a problem.- I frown so he laughs and says, -Im just kidding, we are taking my cousins car so I can drive like a real date and you wont have to sit on my motorcycle in that dress.-

A few minutes into our drive, Nick pulls out a cigarette and starts smoke. I hate it when people smoke. I feel like Im choking. But I cant tell him to stop, I mean, Im not like his official girlfriend or anything. I roll down my window, trying to get fresh air.

-If you want me to stop, just tell me.- he says looking at me.

-Fine, I want you to stop. Its disgusting, I cant believe you actually like it.- I say.

He puts it out in the car ashtray, -Smoking relaxes me, thats all.-

I grin, -Do I make you nervous?-

His gaze travels from my eyes, all the way down my body, -In that dress you do.-

I smile, knowing I got the response I was looking for so he switches the subject, -Hows your sister?-

-Shes waiting to kick your butt at checkers again.- I smile.

-Oh yeah well tell her I was going easy on her to impress you.- he says.

I laugh, -Impress me by losing?-

He takes my hand in his, -Well it worked didnt it? Tell Mandy that I will be back for a rematch,-

This makes my heart melt, knowing that he cares about my sister, while all my other friends just ignore her, -Really? I ask, eyes sparkling.

He smiles, -Of course-

Any nerves I had before are gone now as we pull into a park where the wedding is held. I dont know why I want to keep this thing with Nick quiet. Hes been better to me then any boyfriend in the past. The way he makes me feel is so different from anything Ive ever felt before. If Nick and I can move past our differences and find a way to be together, can others be so accepting? Lets hopefully start with his family and friends at the wedding.
