BEWARE of Petco "grooming" in Vienna, VA!!!

If you love your pet, don't EVER let these people groom them! Against my better judgement after dealing with the angry and very bureaucratic African-American woman b/c I didn't have my life-threatening PALS #, I took my Yorkie there and asked for a teddy-bear cut.. I returned later, and to my horror, they'd SHAVED him! I immediately complained and the manager on duty refunded $40 of my $91 bill. He said that's all he could do, and advised me that if I wanted a complete refund, I had to call the grooming manager, Donna. I called her a few times, and left several messages to no avail. She never called me back. Finally, 4 days later, I called again and got her on the phone. She claimed that my dog's hair was matted and they HAD to shave him! Ok, let me get this straight. My dog sleeps with me and is an indoor dog and has NEVER been matted. Furthermore, she wasn't there when my dog was there. How would she know that? Is she psychic?. I asked to speak w/the manager, so she put me on hold. I finally hung up. The following day, I called and spoke with the manager, Chris. She explained that she could not give me a refund. BEWARE - You'll end up paying well above market rates, getting the run-around, and when you don't get what you asked for they will not respond to your concerns.

I will never allow a Petco Groomer to touch My Dog, I groom Her Myself, The groomers there use cage dryers and Ive seem where they killed a Dog because they left them in the dryer to long what did they do for the owner? Offer Free Grooming. They need to be shut down and the grooming left to professionals who can actually take the responsibility of handling an Animal with Love and Care.

@apool624 I work for petsmart and I'd like to say I appreciate any groomer who feels the same as you about incidents like this. What this person says is true, a lot of people have different views of what a teddy bear cut is, same with a puppy clip, or a kennel cut. In this case it is very sad that the groomer who groomed your dog did not listen to you and ask more specific question on how you wanted your dog.

Wow I'm sorry that happened to you... well that happens ALL the time here in my country... Ecuador, everytime I have sent my poodle-mix to the groomer asking them to NOT shave him... that's what I got... my dog shaved and not just that... also with injuries in his stomach and the last time he had a terrible cut behind the ears... but is a lost battle... they don't even know what a teddy-bear cut is... so that's why I learned to groom my dogs by myself... for my mental health and my dog's safety.

I hear ya, I want to one day open a dog grooming business, but one where we listen to what the costumer wants. Ive been horrified by some the tales of dog grooming like dogs bleeding and the owners not told, or the dog being taken down so short!!! I can't believe they charged you so much either for such a little dog! Take my advice and go to a small pet grooming place they will take the time to listen and vaule your service.

I'm a salon manager for Petco in Texas. I would like to apologise on how your complaint was handled. That is not what we strive for. It should have been handled better than that. If you were closer i'd ask you to give my salon a chance. We follow policy (including inspection of the coat at check in for matting). But to offer some advice, For a Teddy Bear cut, i have found that customers have many opinions of what a Teddy bear cut is. Some like it shorter while others think it is longer.

i also hate petco grooming!! i took my lahso opso breed in for grooming and they made a mess out of her!! it was not worth paying all that money by the time i got her back her ears were not even fully dried and her paws were also wet. it was just a mess all around!! i had barely dropped her off not even a couple minute after they called me back and said she was already done. THEY DONT CARE FOR PETS!! THEY RUSH TRHOUGH EVERYTHING!!
