  • Who says the Universe is finite ? ... hmmm, yet more " humble " comments from religion.

Who says the Universe is not mysterious ? ... the thought of what could be out there and there is every chance there are things out there we cant imagine, both good and bad.

    Stupid Religion.

They " think " in such small terms.

  • I couldn't agree more with House.

i wouldn't call being a muslim a "dogmatic cult religion", but more people tend to stick to the rules. there are some that don't. but i am a muslim AND a rational human being who hates lies, which means i hate hypocrisy, which means your either in or out, no in between.

I've contemplated being an atheism, and yea, i think it would be funner... and simpler (i love science, so ya)

but yea, when your not thinking about it there's really no difference.

  • Can't prove or disprove the existence of God. So why deliberate on it?

  • @just0jackable Life is only meaningful if you get just desserts in the afterlife? Your position means moral behavior has no inherent value, its value is merely contingent on reward - in effect you've endorsed nihilism. Ironically many theists criticize atheists for nihilism and hedonism without realizing they adhere to those positions themselves.

On the other hand, if objective moral value exists, then doing good is inherently worthwhile, even if you'll never be rewarded for it.

  • @NefariousVirtuoso88 No no no, religion, at least after the catholic church has never been about thinking, only believing.

  • look at the origins of christianity: The medieval catholic church.

An institution solely set up to obtain money and power. They preached all the christian values but all they did was leech money off people's gullibility.

Christianity originates from a financial institution.

(and don't start preaching about Martin Luther, Henry VIII etc i know all that stuff)

  • I am happy that Hugh Laurie himself is an atheist. otherwise it would be weird.

  • @just0jackable thats a horrible way to think about life. Sure I don't believe in anything after, but that doesn't sadden me one bit. It just makes me want to make the most of my few years of being conscious. People get so wound up about the future. make the most of today, there's no need to be a pessimist, when there's so many joys in life. It isn't neccessary for there to be a reason as to why we exist.

  • @TheAceassin Well your probably wrong unless you are in some dogmatic cult religion. There's religious people who seem to not worry about what the bible says and do everything an atheist would do from day to day yet they think they are gods elect. I for one didn't have any more fun. Of course when your not thinking about it there's really no difference.

  • Spoken like... well... spoken like a genius. And Hugh Laurie is one.

  • I actually believe that most people who commented here are agreeing with him because they like him dont get me wrong i like him too but when it comes to this matter i have to disagree because life would be meaningless if there was nothing after, cause that would mean ur actions in this life dont really matter whether ur good or bad, u can do whatever cause u wont be punished nor rewarded for the things u did. personally just thinking about that makes me give up i mean why live at all.
