I just finished recording the sound of what I was confident as being an owl though had no idea what kind. After hearing this I now know. I just moved here to St. Augustine Florida from Cleveland, Ohio and had never heard a "live" owl. It was cool and even better now knowing what kind it was (it is dark out so I couldn't see it). I found this page by the "monkey" keyword; my recording definitely contains a/the monkey sound - thanks

Thank you so much for posting this! Last night my kids and I were awakened at about 2am by this sound. We had our windows open and have a forest behind our house. Anyway, it's pretty loud! My husband thought it was a raccoon, but couldn't figure out why it sounded like a monkey. So, this video totally helped identifying it. Thanks again!

I use a Primos Hoot Flute to wind them up like this. I think that they are nosy like a cat.

Great capture of vocalizations--
We have barred owls in our backyard, and the first time we heard them make these sounds we were surprised. I had no idea how many different sounds they made.
