Who would have thought the sweet, young Betty White at the end of this clip would become the dirty old lady we all love today? Over 55 years later, and she's starring in yet another sitcom! How's that for longevity?

When I was young I loved watching Betty White. I couldn't get enough of her. She was really quite beautiful and very funny in just about everything she did.

@shelton705 yep...I dont know of any other actor or actress that has had that typeof longevity...she has never had a period of not working...says something for raw talent

I remember "Life with Elizabeth" very well. it always ended the 1/2 hour with a close up camera shot of Betty White . . . the announcer would say, "Elizabeth, aren't you ashamed?". Betty would think for a minute, then grin and shake her head "No" very vigorously! A terrific show!

I remember it Betty. You wore those lovely full-skirted dresses. It was a great show.

The syndicated film version of "LIFE WITH ELIZABETH" (1953-'55) was adapted from Betty's original live Los Angeles series [on KLAC]- there were three vignettes in the life of "Elizabeth" & "Alvin" in every episode. This made the show flexible, as local stations could either run 65 half-hour episodes, or 195 ten minute segments!
