Christoph Willibald Gluck (1714-1787)
La clemenza di Tito (1752)
Dramma per musica in 3 acts
Libretto: Pietro Metastasio
Sesto's aria (Act I)
VITELLIA
Non stancarmi più. Conosco, ingrato,
che amor non hai per me.
Agli occhi miei involati per sempre,
e scordati di me.
SESTO
Fermati! io cedo;
io già volo a servirti.
VITELLIA
Eh! non ti credo.
SESTO
No: mi punisca Amore,
se penso ad ingannarti.
VITELLIA
Dunque, corri! Che fai? perché non parti?
SESTO
Parto; ma tu, ben mio,
meco ritorna in pace.
Sarò qual più ti piace;
quel che vorrai farò.
Guardami, e tutto oblio,
e a vendicarti io volo.
Di quello sguardo solo
io mi ricorderò.

Neah, it's not comparable with Mozart's 'Parto' of course but it's not silly, Gluck's music as always serves the text very well.
Also, Mozart's 'Parto' is parhaps the most important aria in his opera or at least among the top three while this one here is probably not even in top 3 among Sesto's arias alone.

I'm sorry, but when this is compared with Mozart's Parto, this is just absolutley silly. But I mean Mozart was in a complete league of his own; it's comparing apples to oranges.
