It's a nice game though, but there are far better ones if you want to check out some other RPGs

I cared and was invested in CT's characters.. Just not all of them. Those without a feature part in the main story were flat and boring, for the most part. Serge, Kid, Lynx, and Harle were the main focus so that's who the game made you care about. But it didn't stop me from loving Mojo, Pop, Korcha, Marcy, Poshul, Glenn, etc etc. But you're right, there were way too many characters to care about all of them. More like a epic side-quest to get them all in your party. Which was fun, actually.

I think the biggest flaw in CC was the 40 playable characters. Only about ten of them were likable. The rest... Well, I mean come on, you can't have 40 compelling characters. That's what made CT so great; there were only seven characters and every single one of them was amazing in their own way. CT made you give a shit about the characters. CC was still a great game, but when you aren't as invested in who the characters are and how the game's events affect them, it won't stand up to CT.

And on top of that, theres Harle, who continues following whoever's in that body... fully aware of the situation. Doesnt even pretend otherwise. That was really an interesting way to go about things, and at the time seemed just so bizarre.

Made sense in the end though! Im often surprised how many insane things in this game ended up making perfect sense. That couldn't have been easy.

The twist was that you were only playing as the protagonist for a while. A few hours in you switched bodies with the antagonist. Your friends of course does not know this. I never played a game that did this.

I agree. Chrono Trigger is a fantastic game. I love it. But Cross had an atmosphere. It knew itself and knew what it wanted to be, and it became that. Chrono Cross decides its going to shatter your brain. It does so....

...Plus that teleporting between dimensions scene is always so badass.
