Actually, everybody who says that it's not supposed to go through your cartilage. It should go through the "sweet spot" , but there are a few people who don't have that sweet spot, just like every bodies different. Some people have large ones, some people have rather small ones. It just depends on the person. My experience is still on going since I got mine done 3 days ago, so far I absolutely love it.

So I'm getting mine done Monday , I would just say , "Can we go through the soft spot ? not the cartilage ?" Cause i did it my own , like 6 tries and didn't hurt . The jewlery didn't go through thats why :S

can someone help me? im so scared, i got my septum done last saturday, when your septum heals do you get a huge scab in your nose on the cartilage of your piercing? thats whats happening to me, i even had to take the piercing out because it hurt so much! i've been cleaning it and everything and its sooo sore when i touch it help?

mine didnt hurt. (: my friend josh, it didnt hurt him either. but i went with my friend lindsay to get hers and it hurt her so much she cried and the guy could barely finish.

got my septum done about three days ago, it felt like a really fucking intense pinch haha I couldn't help it but my eyes started watering. but it was worth it, it's just really sore now.

You can pierce it through the cartilage. Most people chicken out, and choose not to. But piercing it through the cartilage is not totally wrong.
Its true, the cartilage COULD shatter. but hey,. its not that uncommon. i know more people who have their septum pierced this way then not.
Its just more painful,. but i've been told it lasts forever.
