No Kate knows Jax from her time before coming to PC. She met him through the time she worked with Coture. Remember he is a big business guy and world traveller and has always been a player, their paths crossed during that time. Hope that helps some. They brought this up in an episode long time back

kate has always thought she was better than everyone else. She always try to put her cousin down and hide her background. kate needs to realize that Jax never wanted her she was his just there at the time.
