This is one in a series of interviews taken in Kirkuk Iraq following the 2010 elections in Iraq. The questions were based upon suggestions of a professor friend of mine who specializes in the Middle East. Despite the interrogative nature of the interviews, I assure all concerned that the interviews were wholly voluntary and some people did decline to be interviewed. I think the main reason for the uncomfortable appearance for most of the interviewed was due to several factors, of which having just come from manual labor to conduct the interview in conjunction with the sensitivity of the nature of questions being asked by a military member were the main contributors.
Ahmed is a 20 year old Arab Muslim; he was a member of the Third Country National (TCN) work group on Kirkuk Regional Air Base (KRAB). Mr. M is the supervisor for the TCN work crew and is a trusted translator for their interview.
