!! Watch in HQ !! This is a test with the new iMovie of iLive '09. You can see different camera positions and their effect on the image stabilization of iMovie.

The text below the video may be a bit unclear so you might want to know that the first video is always WITHOUT Video Stabilization, the second always WITH Video Stabilization.

  • no need for iMovie HD. since iMovie09 is out now

  • And I bought final cut express 1 month ago... If I only knew...

  • Can you confirm the camera that you used for the shots of the cow and the skiing slope?

I'm a little worried about the effects that are visible in the trees...

Could this be linked to the cmos sensor and the list of "uncompatible" camera's Apple is reporting?

Is this visible in the edges of every "standstill" shot that you stabilize?

  • Hey,

The camera I used for the treeshot was a Canon digital ixus 75. I'm not sure if it's due to the camera. I rather think that it's the image stabilization who is responsible for this.

I also have a Sony HD camera, I'll try that one out this weekend and put it in a response on this video

  • The stabilization looks like if your were under water...

  • The landscape thing looked weird O_o

  • second video did not make it lolz

  • Final Cut express has some awesome features though... For example, color correction. Let's see imovie do THAT.

  • their all good

  • not only that, but my video ended up a whole lot blurrier! I think it just zooms in on the video...

  • There's just one problem with the iMovie's Image Stabilization: it reduces the color depth A LOT. The image starts to look like it's been converted to an 8-bit image. This is especially noticeable in the shadows and resembles the artifacts of compression a little bit.

  • alright thanks, and what part do I find the slow motion effect

  • 1. it makes the movie less shakey.

    2. yes you can now with 09.

  • I don't get it. what does that Video Stabilization Do?

Can you use slow mo effect in iMovie09. SInce theirs more features. I know iMovie HD Does that

  • who was driving that car. they are one of the fucking maniac drivers.

  • Looking good, seems like a must have. Thanks for the upload.....

  • Great stuff, broqblog !!
