Skills: Every skill is a good skill to have. Make sure you are moderately proficient at whatever you put on your resumé. Take a class, join a team, find a friend, etc.
1) Sports commonly asked for: Football, Baseball, Soccer, Basketball
2) Dance commonly asked for: Ballet, Hip Hop, Tap, Jazz
3) Music commonly asked for: Voice (Soprano, Alto, Mezzo, Tenor, Baritone, Bass), Guitar, Piano, Drums

Classes: If you can, take classes at your high school or college. If you can't (or prefer not to) there are private studios. Expect to pay $50 per session (8 weeks, $400; 1 day, $50). There are also seminars and workshops with industry folk available.
1) Common classes: Meisner, Scene Study, Improv
2) Common Studios: Groundlings, Second City

Credits:
1) Short films, student films, film festivals
2) Showcases (You can get 10 people to chip in $X to rent a theater and all that goes with it and invite industry guests)
3) Pro-production theater (You and X# of people pay $X to be in a show)
