I remember the day she died. I lived in Tampa, Florida. There was a freeze. Ice was on the ground. I had to go to school. It really bummed me out. My father had been buying me tapes of The Carpenters' music for years.

There are a few like Karen out there. A recent favourite of mine is Connie Talbot, a 12 year old British girl. Connie sings with a pitch perfect voice and as far as I am aware she has never ever used autotune. There are clips of Connie on You Tube from age 6, but her best are from age 10. The more recent, from 2012 and 2013 are outstanding. I believe one of Connie's best covers is Whitney Houstons "I will always love you" from Connie's Dec 2012 Concert in Hong Kong, but she is very versatile.

Karen's voice is far better live than and of today's singers mixed, multi tracked and edited for 6 months in the studio. Of there is anyone today with talent even approaching what she had I wish they would step forward and be heard.
