We used to send probes up to the moon when we were in Cal Tech and Pasadena's JPL. We were doing surface surveys. Temperatures showed between 200-290 degrees Fahrenheit.
A space suit can air condition the wearer to a cool 60 degrees, however.... here's the fun par regular people don't know about. The suit's exterior heats up and the air conditioning fails. As you know... cooling a suit would cause condensation in such heat, resulting in malfunctioning of the suit ;)

We did not want them to think anything and they were not about to believe us. But the bottom line is this: Whether we landed or not is immaterial. We have achieved the purpose of that event, fake or real, by scoring against the Soviets in that race to the moon. if the landing was real, it was not a great achievment. if it was fake, it was one of the greatest state acts of propaganda ever pulled on the people of the world.
