The Ford Ranger and Mazda B-Series are very challanging when it comes to bleeding the hydraulic clutch release system, specifically due to the trapped air in the master cylinder and pressure line. This video shows the technique that we use in our installation lab when we work on one and it is what we recommend to diagnosis the release system, identify the problem area and then "burp" and gravity bleed the system.   • Question, The bleed screw on the slave you are demonstrating has a regular bleed screw end on it. My daughter's 88 ranger has one that does not have that kind of end on it's,just a hex tip with a hole in it with no place to attach the bleed hose. How do you do the kind that we have.

  • @Jokatyal Both GM and Ford have used the 7/16" hex. You can use the same techniques, it just gets a bit messy trying to catch the drained fluid. If you want to keep it neat, check the local hardware store for a piece of vinyl tubing that you can slide over the large hex. Gary

  • Replacing the clutch on my son's 92 Explorer and this was awesome. I attempted to bleed under the truck 15 or so times with much frustration prior to coming here and seeing your videos. This one is my favorite of the various bleed procedures...The one where you did it all on the bench in a sterile environment was just...too...sterile...this one looks more like my garage/driveway...

  • @pizzamang I don't really disagree with your "sterile" comments, that was our 1st video and we used that to show the process from a M/C replacement perspective, but Ranger Part 2 shows a much more common scenario, all parts installed, follow some "bleeding method" no luck, now what? But if I'm starting with a new M/C installation, the older Ranger video is the correct starting point. Hopefully, you're all set and done. Thanks, Gary

  • @brdman55 We have installed a few test sets using braided SS flexible lines, its pretty neat and easy, BUT it does not do anything about the angle of the master cyliner, just makes R&R easier. Your challange in the field is the fittings at the MC and SC. The black plastic is some pretty tough stuff, takes a lot of abuse. Gary

  • Thanks very much for posting these clutch bleeding vids for now I understand my '95 Ranger's (4.0) system (and troubleshooting) perfectly. Having only performed clutch replacement on my '89 VW Cabriolet, this was invaluable hydraulic system information. I've long suspected air bubbles or a bad slave as the cause of the frequent 1st and reverse issues I've had since obtaining the truck and this nicely-produced vid will make my upcoming clutch replacement a far easier experience.
