Perhaps it would be more dramatic if you had a full clip of her singing about her wonderful romantic prince, and the birds are twittering and helping her bake some pies... and then you cut directly to FLAVOR FLAAAAAAVE. end transmission?
The idea of her singing about prince charming and then showing "flavor" is a good contrast of how love was viewed at one point and how it is now, because the way I know "flavor" is from his dating show. Snow White waits for her one true love to find her and to live happily ever after with. While in the many shows like Flavor of Love, they claim to be looking for that one true love, yet the relationships rarely last, resulting in multiple seasons of the same person looking for "true love"
The juxtaposition what was once thought to be prince charming with how our entertainment today portrays love and prince charming is definately a good topic. It really makes you think about society and radical change that has taken place even since we were kids. I was not at all expecting "flavor" at all! Just reminds me about how much i love those reality dating shows haha..
Because both of these characters are so recognizable the video can touch on a lot of different topics. I think it speaks to the idea of what society wants and how drastically it has changed over the years. It can also talk about the role of men and women in society. Because you chose such a popular figure (flavor) this video can fall easily into the 'viral' category. great job
This was a good idea to play with the clealiness of old Disney films and the over-the-top entertainment our culture needs today. We are driven by the explicit and scandalous, viewing television shows like "Flavor of Love". There is loss of respect for true love, and the idea of prince charming has vanished along with our morals. A sweet, soft voice is pounded down by an annoying, repetetive man wearing platinum teeth.
The video is an interesting juxtaposition of an African American with a White American, female no less. I have watched cartoons from the early 50's, and the representation of the African American is not much different than this. The minority figure is used as a commodity or for comedic purposes only. I think the old cartoons play a major role in the way the minority society has evolved and how the White American reacts to it today. This video begins a conversation that is important and healthy
