Oh dear im stoned. No but really though i think its cool to see crew in Civi clothing. Id love to be a cargo pilot or something like that, never been really interested in richard gere syles pilot mister. Id rather be an air trucker lol cos then id feel hard and powerful.

It is probably a freighter - on airliners the aircrew must be in uniform the whole time.

Modern 747s have rockingchairs to keep pilots awake and busy during longhaul flights.

my dad used to be a pilot and i was a baby when he was a pilot but still i remember some stuff about planes it is cool

Great video - love the 747-200. Thanks. I'm not a pilot, but I would find it pretty alarming to go into the cockpit and see the pilots sitting around in their sweat-pants and grubby old t-shirts. I know it makes no difference as to how you do your job I suppose - but it just looks like you're not as ready/professional to a leyman like me! It looks sort of funny, but also a bit strange. Are some pilots really paid so little that they like to save money on washing clothes/laundering like this?!

it so old!, i didnt know that the 747-200 would be that old looking cockpit and instruments! gosh!,, plus it has a flight engineer seat too!! , am totaly shocked!,
regarding the pilots, its okay u should expect that in eastern Europe!

@Ihdc1 I believe I was a first officer when I recorded this one, the captain was in back using the lavatory. Extra crew on board.

Ah mediocrity...Do you spend the entire ten hour flight 100ft off your assigned altitude?

Ah mediocrity.... a viewer not realizing that in Russian airspace metric altitudes are maintained, and in this particular case our assigned flight level worked out to about 100 feet off of a regular flight level.

Do cargo airlines not require standard pilot shirts? (professional pressed, with epulates and all?)

Technically, yes. What happens inflight, when there are no company officials or customer representatives around is another story. Remember, some flights are upwards of 10 hours long; a great way to cut down on dry-cleaning costs is to only wear the uniform shirt to and from the hotel.
Generally, the captain sets the tone on this one.
