Does it make you gag? I have an extreme gag reflex!

There is always a little discomfort at the beginning of orthodontic treatment. Within a few days, the pressure settles down and you may get the occasional discomfort of a wire poking through at the back of your mouth.

Why don't you have something stretching your mouth? Your orthodontist must really trust you to keep your mouth open!

i got braces april 8th and your shoes are like braces things is like so totally right exept the braces hurt the first the dayys but if you can get through the very first days the tightnings will be a breeze...i had my first adjusment on june 3rd:))

There is no need to be numbed. It's just like painting your fingernails - a clear varnish is applied and the bracket is attached -similar to placing a false fingernail.

No it doesn't hurt- fitting the braces is just like painting your fingernails, there's a clear varnish coated on the teeth and the brackets are just placed on each tooth.
Getting used to braces is just like wearing in a new pair of shoes, it will feel tight the first few days but as you wear the shoes they become comfortable, and the braces will feel the same way.
