dualt, this is because the WPITW segment on countdown is not meant to be a smackdown of people who have damaged the world, but rather a commentary segment where he singles out people in politics(95% of the time them being the type of people you mentioned at the start of your comment) and calls them on mistakes they have made, and making stupid or sometimes disturbing remarks. He does not believe(at least, i don't THINK he does) any of those people are bad people. It's just a commentary segment.

This segment is made humorously, so sometime it is not to be taken at the first level. It is not journalism... Take it for an opinion part of a show like the caricature in the Washington post.

Also, on 600 nominees: 174 had conservative political views, 23 had liberal political views and 403 have no particular views.

Ok so olberman puts republicans, conservatives and free market captilists on his list of the "worst people in the world". Doesnt anyone find it strange that he doesnt put any World dictators i.e. Kim jong ill Murdering world leaders i.e Mugabe Opressive Russian government officials i.e Putin International terrorists I.e osama bin laden on his list? and Why is it that his list comprises mostly americans? So "americans" are the worst people in the world. somethins not right with this guys judment
