Wild police chase ends in gunfire

KTRK-TV -- Houston -- June 9, 2009 -- 7:26 AM CDT // Pasadena, Texas -- An auto theft suspect is in the hospital after being shot by a police officer he's accused of trying to run over.

This all started early this morning at an apartment complex in the 900 block of Houston in Pasadena. Police noticed a stolen truck at the complex. The person in the truck took off as soon as he realized he was spotted by police.

There was a lot of road construction in that area of Pasadena. A few blocks away from where the case began, the suspect hit a construction road sign, overcorrected, took out a light pole and crashed on Denham.

The driver then put the vehicle in reverse and allegedly tried to run over one of the officers who had been chasing him. After getting out of the way, the officer pulled out his revolver and fired three shots, each one hitting the suspect inside the vehicle.
