  • At the end of this clip a tray of glasses fall to ground and Mac, can't let this slip and is off to "his old antics". But this aussie's doesn't take silly crap from nobody so Mac has to let it go...

  • Bjørn was changing his backhand becuse lack of control and misshits. He was changing 1996 to keep both hands all the way in the swing. It looks much better with the old swing. Sad that he was changing his backhand becuse it looks very beutiful when he drops the left hand in the swing. Im a Swedish Tenniscoach and are swinging my backhand like Borg was doing in the old days.

  • The same can be said if Connors or Mcenroe played the aussie open back then. Borg was great but not that great because he never won a U.S. Open.

  • Mcenroe Looks lost,he is been embarrased and completely outclassed by Borg,Damn if Borg continued from here on,Lendl,Connors,Mcenroe,Wilander,Edberg and Becker would not have stood a chance, this is just perfection especially Borg's return of service so damn quick and direct.

  • borg really did leave at the top of his game. he was so impressive. his physical conditioning would have allowed him to play competitively easily as long as connors. too bad it's all mental when you get to their level of play.

    his backhand is ridiculous....duh!

  • man this is frigging awesome mate!!! i really miss the golden days of tennis. true personalities and such popularity. these two guys made tennis. i wonder what would have happened had borg played a few aussie opens during his days, and had he not retired at 26? he had 11 slams by 26, and never made the trip to australia when it was on grass. he won 5 wimbledons, so you gotta think he would have maybe won 4 or 5 aussies. could have had 15 or 16 slams by the time he retired at 26. wow?

  • Could someone confirm if this was the final or the semifinal? The final was either this or the Lendl match.

  • Tennis is all about pace now. I'm guessing that the approach of old doesn't work as well anymore, because it's easier to hit the ball early with the kinds of strings they use now. Everything's changed.

  • Borg has the best groundstrokes i have ever seen when he was king of tennis.

His backhand is different from the way he plays it now with the modern racket. In the past with the wooden racket he lets go with his left hand which creates a full swing.

Today playing the backhand, he keeps both hands on the racket.

I wonder why he changed his technic on this shot?

The swing isn't impressive as it was in the old days.

  • I can't hear what they're saying when John is saying to the guy? And wonder what the guy is saying back to him. Do you know exactly? Thanks.

  • Hi, can you please tell me when this was played? After Wimbledon 1982?

    Thanks.
