In this week's episode, you're going to learn what YouTube just spent $100 million on, why you won't ever have to miss out on live tickets again and and how to position yourself as an expert in your field in less than five seconds. Welcome to the JT show where you get the latest in online video marketing news and some sneaky video marketing secrets to help your business get more views, likes, subscribes and sales. I'm JT and let's get on with the news.
The first bit of news is that Google has just relaunched Google television and YouTube has just signed a $100 million deal to launch 100 premium original content channels, featuring celebrities such as Deepak Chopra, Madonna and Jay-Z- and channels for well known websites like Machinima, The Onion and TEDtalks. 42 million homes around the world have internet connected TVs but the number is growing. Apple has already attemped to get their foot into the $70 billion advertising market so it isn't surprising to see Google follow suit. So what does this mean for us, the little guy? Now obviously Google is going to give priority to the channels they are promoting so it might be harder to rank for the same keywords terms and all all those YouTube musicians who have spent such a hard time making the channels good are going to get greater competition from the likes of Jay-Z anTd Madonna now having their own channels. However what this does mean is that a whole new audience that aren't usually on YouTube are going to be reached now. On top of that the integration of web video into mainstream television can also benefit the small guy because now they have the chance to appear in front a larger audience than they previously had.
Following on from this YouTube has also picked up the game in live streaming. A couple of days ago Coldplay's new "Unstaged" Tour concert in Madrid was streamed live on YouTube. Now I know a lot of people reported that the stream crashed during the concert- I personally didn't have that problem. Now what was cool about this broadcast of the concert was that you could choose which camera you wanted to watch the show. Now obviously it doesn't beat live experience of the concert however there is plenty of positives. First of all it's awesome for the fans who can't get tickets to the concert. Second of all, it's great for fans who live in cities that concert doesn't tour to. Thirdly, I think it's brilliant for festivals and stuff where sometimes there's two bands that you really like playing on two different stages at the exact same time. What's so cool about it being on YouTube now is that you can just click to go to the other stage - no hassle involved whatsoever. Check the link below for Coldplay's channel where you can catch highlights of their show. Now it's time for the sneaky marketing secret.
This week's sneaky marketing secret is how you can position yourself as an expert or an authority in your field in less than five seconds. This brilliant tip was given to me by Stacia Hopkins and you can check out her video where she explains it in more detail in the link below and check out her channel as well, which is also in the link below. This is important because most people won't buy something from someone unless they know, like and trust them. By positioning yourself as the expert or the authority in the field you can really help your viewers to get to know like and trust you and eventually buy from you. So the secret to do this in your opening statement. Stacia suggests that you use an opening statement where you state your name and then any website that you've created, books you've authored or anything else that you've done. So for example instead of me saying, "Hi, my name's Justin Teoh welcome to my show" I would say "Hi, it's Justin Teoh here, the creator of the SneakyVideoMarketingSecrets.com and the author of 'The Absolute Beginner's Quick Start Guide To Making Money Fast With Online Video.'" Already in the space of five seconds I been able to establish to the viewer that I've got a lot of experience in video marketing..
Great content JT - and we agree with you; it's got to be a good thing that Google is placing more and more emphasis on video, as that is what the public audience wants. Of course, we won't be competing with Madonna and JayZ for the keywords that they want to be found for, but hope to make the most of the increased impact that video has. Thanks for sharing, and looking forward to episode 3 :)
