The ABB frequency inverter was manually set to maintain ~120 rpm using max 145 '%' torque. Because of the low rpm, most of the wind passed trough the rotor surface unused.

This braking mode is inefficiënt as the turbine only generated an est. avg. 1.5 kW to a max of 3. Normally the speed would have been 200 rpm to 350 rpm with a 15 m/s wind gust. This is why the braking mode was tested, as the ABB drive switches to dumpload above 325 rpm. At 200 rpm (9-10 m/s) Alize produces 7-8 kW and 13 kW @ 325 rpm.
