A retired Railway Post Office (RPO) clerk, who last "caught" the mail in 1967, catches it again in a demonstration at the Illinois Railroad Museum on June 13, 2009. RPOs were discontinued by the Post Office on June 30, 1977. Many stamp collectors enjoy collecting envelopes postmarked on RPOs. The man with his back to the camera (at the beginning of the video) is my dad. He's one of the former RPO clerks that gets together at their reunions.
