Juan Williams thinks that Republicans are using racist code words like "food stamps." Zo decodes these supposed code words and explains that Republicans are really thinking of failed liberal policies, not race, when discussing the welfare state.

And when he used his decoder ring he got...

"Be sure to eat your food stamps"

  • Juan got Fired from NPR for racially insensitive comments

  • I love your shirt.

  • @magicwhiteguys Correct that many will make that connection but based on the reaction at the time (I'm also old enough to remember) those reaction revealed the racism on the left as much as any on the right. If someone says something not intended to be racist then who does the reaction reflect on when racism is perceived? lol BTW I hear leaders on the left use such poor choice of words at times and do not always assume their intent is racist, sexist, etc lest it reflect on me ;-)

  • @talonspoint Guilty I did attack you in the exchange. It is no different that what Zo does. My admitting to it is just me being prickish. Of which Zo always does. The only difference is I dont state my opinion as fact, which Zo does. Besides that fact his arguments contain more vitriol than actual points beyond generalizations..

    Respectfully,

  • @talonspoint This is incorrect about the left telling people they cant succeed. You need to show instances of that. The narrative on both the right and left is that everyone in america can succeed. Which is not possible in a system that worships a capitalistic model.

  • @talonspoint There are some that do take advantage of a system, but to make sweeping generalizations like reagan did and no go into the nuances of the situation is irresponsible. It may not have been linked to black people in Reagan's mind when he said it, but you have a population who will seek to make that connection because they are just racist.

  • @talonspoint 5) Finally, if you go back and read the sequence of our exchange it has been a series of attacks on your part toward me, those you want to connect to me followed by my responses accordingly. If we had stayed on point of Zo in the first place we likely would have found certain common ground (just a suggestion for the future.) Now I must prep for a road trip so I will kindly leave the last word to you.

    Respectfully,

    Talon's Point

  • @magicwhiteguys 4) Your argument of Republicans over the last 30 years is your rightful opinion but I highly disagree. The left tells these same people they cannot succeed without the help of government, a sexist and racist thinking itself. I amd the conservatives I know consider women and those of other races as created equal, and best served by restoring and protecting their liberty, not their outcome.
